The client

Merrick Palmer, former professional basketball player and current owner of Capital Courts Training Center in Ottawa, developed a system devoted to equipping basketball coaches with the knowledge and tools necessary to teach high level individual skills to basketball players of all ages. It's called BSI (Basketball Skills Instructor). This system is groundbreaking in the realm of basketball and he wanted to advertise his new system, blending the urban culture of basketball and high- level, tactical instruction.

The challenge

Our challenge was to create a cutting edge website, with evocative urban photography, and a strong film commercial, advertising BSI to the world of basketball in Canada. BSI is a company devoted to equipping basketball coaches with the knowledge and tools necessary to teach high level individual skills to basketball players of all ages. Their vision is to improve the caliber of Canadian basketball, and basketball worldwide, so why not begin by upping the ante on digital side of things too!

The solution

We designed a website that combines the gritty, urban culture of basketball, and the high level, intuitive nature of BSI's instruction. Our research and planning concluded that implementing video in the design of the website would help to convey the message and soul of BSI, while creating an improved visual experience. On the film side of things we wrote a script, directed, shot and produced a film commercial and a corporate video for use on the BSI website as well as a tool in social media. On set at the video shoot we conducted a photo shoot to develop visual content for online campaigns and other uses. Merrick Palmer has been applauded by clients, and partners for his digital campaign, and new online home for his awesome Business. BSI's got SOUL.

Video

Capturing the essence of this amazing brand was a lot of fun for various reasons. Working with Kelton Bivins on the voice over and Ruben Kanya as our lead actor (in "I Need Skills") proved to be a great decision.

We made sure to bring this site to life with the vivid portrayal of real people working hard to become better at the sport they love. We built the site in Wordpress and incorporated various animations and interactive elements to bring the brand to life!

Light and Impactful

Our one page design speaks directly to coaches in an engaging manner. The sweet combination of animations, video, persuasive copy, and a light framework gives BSI's new online home a good look, not to mention a nice dose of soul.
