The client

Komi Olafimihan, an incredible Nigerian, Canadian visual artist and poet has been making noise in the art community for the better half of the last decade. At one point being crowned as Canada’s slam poetry champion the world had yet to discover the breadth and depth of another one of his talents. He is a highly imaginative and gifted painter, with knack for integrating the real and surreal; creating his own conundrum of awesome! He contacted us in need of film production to convey his artful soul to the world through film.

The challenge

Our challenge was to design, script, storyboard direct, shoot and produce this short film in one week. The video needed to blend honest/organic footage with creative motion graphics elements, in a thought-provoking yet ethereal kinda’ way... This was so fun!

The solution

Our production strategy team and camera operators spent 2 days generating ideas, building concepts and planning the story. We decided to use one of his inspirational poems as the driving narrative but edited it to to work with our production timeline and our vision. After developing the concepts we set out to Toronto to begin our full-day shoot, which resulted in this inspirational short, featuring one of the most influential young Canadian artists. If you don’t wanna take our word for it, check this out: Komi Olafimihan’s got SOUL.
