Causeway Work Centre, a social enterprise dedicated to helping individuals from diverse and challenging backgrounds find meaningful work, faced difficulties in communicating their value and identity to the public, stakeholders, and funders.
Their brand did not reflect the impactful, vibrant spirit of their organization or the quality of the people they serve. Internally, they struggled to articulate their identity, making it challenging to present themselves in a way that would help their clients secure employment opportunities with partner businesses. Overall, the brand needed to better represent the essence and quality of their mission.

The type-driven identity hints at the industrial past of Studio’s home in a former factory, as well as the creative spirit and resourcefulness of Studio as a theatrical company. The wordmark and primary typography are set in a non-stencil version of the utilitarian heavyweight font AType (designed by Pentagram partner Matt Willey); secondary type appears in the geometric sans Metric (from Klim Type Foundry) and the serif Publico (from Commercial Type). The primary brand palette is a striking yellow, black and white.

To solve this, Godzspeed collaborated closely with Causeway’s leadership through discovery sessions to understand their true identity.
They crafted a comprehensive Soul Guide to clarify every aspect of their brand identity, positioning, and expression. A new visual identity system was created to break away from typical cause-based branding, resulting in a modern, marketable look that instilled pride in their team and partners. Deliverables included a new emblem, a cohesive color palette, typography, photography direction, and a refined look and feel for social media and video content. They also produced a series of commercials featuring real client stories and developed the brand’s big idea: “Work, Regardless.” This encapsulated their mission of helping people find meaningful work, no matter their circumstances. The end result was not only a beautiful, cohesive brand but also increased organizational confidence and recognition in their field, allowing Causeway to proudly share their story and mission with the world.
