Innovation is ingrained into the very idea of what they do. The name CISED was hard to remember, but it had a legacy. Enter the improved, but familiar, CSED brand name. A simplified name to go with a clearer message. As partners, both Godzspeed and CSED understood that less was more.

With CSED, We All Profit. The familiar name needed a war cry to vividly convey the incredible impact their work creates. One that embodied everything the social enterprise sector stands for, while also highlighting the importance of CSED’s role.

Brand Strategy

We had to make clear that everyone benefits from social enterprise.

The Centre for Social Enterprise Development is a nonprofit organization that supports social enterprises for their triple bottom line: people, planet, and profits. They needed a new focus for their strategy that spoke to the power of their purpose. The answer was right there in plain sight, in the rhetorical question asked by CSED: Why wouldn’t you want to help the real world by changing the world of business? With their help, We All Profit.

Brand Design

They needed to look and feel like the revolutionary business leaders that they are. Our main goal for CSED’s brand was to show they are a major rallying voice in the sector, not just a silent partner. The brand is minimal enough to not distract from the message; its intentions are clear enough to evoke a choice within everyone who sees it.

Fonts

We used a bold type font to create a sense of impact, mirroring what CSED does for community. The sans serif font is easy to read, making the message inclusive and accessible to all. Nobody is left behind. And, with the tri-colour E inserted into the wordmark, it’s easily noticeable, and becomes a symbol of CSED’s revolutionary vision.

The colours needed to speak to CSED’s passionate purpose and triple bottom line. Purple represents the royalty of people — human dignity is at the centre of everything they do. Blue represents our little planet — the only home we’ve got. Green is the thriving profit that social enterprise creates for all stakeholders — without it, business 
can’t survive.
